3 weeks in, wearing the hip sports bandana I got for being a rock climbing model for Buff gear today!
My last week before Afghanistan and I think it’s going to be a good one… the beard is starting to fill out, itch less, and make me bulletproof as planned.
Lots of preparations at hand. Ordering and unpacking gear, installing critter-cam software on the Asus EEE laptop I got for the expedition, working out all the math needed to do a good motorized slider timelapse… and trying to put a button on my projects here so I can safely leave them behind.
We had a great screening for Visions of Mustang last night, just a small private affair on the projector in my apartment, but the audience loved it. Materials are going out this week for that, by the way, and Joey’s going to be putting it into film festivals while I’m away. It’s a great feeling to see it all grown up and ready to go out into the world.
Thanks again for all the support and wishes. My next blog update may be in Afghanistan!

Amazing stuff as ever Daniel! May your bulletproof beard keep you safe. Bon Chance!
