Quick update from the Singapore airport on my 10 hour layover!
If you get a chance to fly Singapore air – or to Singapore in general, I definitely recommend it. This has been hands down the most pleasant international travel experience I’ve ever had. The plane is comfortable (I had a whole row of seats to myself, which helped), has good food, a constant supply of OJ and wine, and power outlets.
The Singapore airport makes the USA look, if not like a 3rd world country, then definitely a 2nd. Lounges are nestled into groves of real trees (with informational plaques about the species!) There’s a free gym, rec area with wall-sized TVs, and wifi. Much as I want to see the city, it’s 2AM here and I haven’t slept in a day, so I think I’m going to recline and catch some z’s before making the last leg to Kathmandu.
Listening to the Robert Gordon audiobook of Beowulf to lull me to sleep with scenes of grim gore and war-might. Tomorrow, Nepal!
