There’ve been some exciting developments since our expedition ended, which I’ll brief here. I fly out in 2 hours for Honduras, where I’ll be working on a different environmental film in the Rio Platana Biosphere Reserve – more on that in a moment.
Recently, we gave our presentation on the Outburst phenomenon to the National Geographic Society. We were well attended by media, education, radio, and magazine, and the presentation was very well received. We were interviewed for weekend radio by Boyd Matson, and a 1-page spread is being published on our work in the international magazine.
While the verdict is still out as to whether there’s interest in turning this into a one-off for TV, there are other intriguing possibilities. I’ve recently put in a grant proposal to the Arkay Foundation for $40K to fund the completion of the Outburst film – the Peru side, the Nepal side, and the south-south collaboration between the two occurring this fall. Fingers crossed!
